In Good Taste, Really

Why Am I Not At The AAAS Convention?

Well, mainly because I hadn’t heard of it.  But thanks to Wired.com and their many super-wired blogs, I am now aware of this American Association for the Advancement of Science and its Annual Meeting in Chicago happening this weekend.  So far, they’ve discussed neanderthal genomes, philematology (the science of kissing), and face transplants.  As far as I’m concerned, it’s tied with New York Fashion Week as the numero uno place to be right now.

It’s moments like these I dream of having, if not an endless supply of money, an endless supply of plane tickets.  In this wonderful imaginary world, I’d hit upRebecca Taylor 2009 Chicago and listen to scientists talk about biofuels, synthetic life,  mental evolution, space in it’s early days, and the global integration of local ecosystems. Then I’d hop a jet to New York just in time for Tibi on Tuesday, Anna Sui on Wednesday, Rebecca Taylor on Thursday, and Project Runway (9 a.m.!) on Friday.

Tibi 2009

Even if it was possible to go on such a trek, what would I do with such a knowledge?  Ha, I’d probably write about it.   But I don’t have the funds to get there, and therein lies my answer – and also why I’m here in the ATL, writing into the endless void of the interweb.
